"We'd assumed pursuing a bank loan would be simple, instead we found timescales unreasonable and the process a bit of a nightmare. With LDF, it was simple."
Chris Toller, Director, Henstone Distillery
Chris and Alexandra Toller spent ten years running a successful IT consultancy but always had a keen interest in the drinks industry. They partnered with long-time friends Shane and Alison Parr, owners of the highly successful Stonehouse Brewery in Shropshire, and the idea for the Henstone Distillery was born.
Their vision is a grand one, and their three core principles are refreshingly real: to have fun, produce quality and make some money along the way.
As a start-up, the need for significant capital investment was an immediate requirement. Exploring options through their bank they found timescales unreasonable and the process a bit of a nightmare.
LDF helped bring money into the business, not bureaucracy. A dedicated LDF Account Manager supported them through the process of getting a business loan and funds were in their bank account within just a few days.
With LDF's help, the Henstone Distillery is positioned for long-term development. The fuss-free business loan allowed them to quickly source in the largest still they could afford, to allow them to futureproof their business.
The impressive 1000 litre still, affectionately named Hilda, will enable the distillery to produce around 600 bottles per run, allowing them to retain a craft focus, whilst also being able to meet their anticipated commercial demand.
We could not have been happier. Banks as usual were a nightmare - they took over six weeks to eventually refuse for vague reasons unexplained. LDF were professional, helpful, friendly, and best of all, fast.
